Introduction

I feel like I've always been interested in emergency preparedness. From a young age, I remember doing earthquake drills in school, making emergency kits, and learning about Smokey the Bear. I've also gained a fascination for natural disasters (probably inspired by my dad, who will watch any "Twister," "Firestorm," or "Dante's Peak" movie that he can find).
I recently got a chuckle out of my roommate who, in glancing around at my rather disorderly bedroom, reminded me that I should at least have an escape path and a flashlight next to my bed so I don't kill myself if the power goes off! Ha ha.
With this love for emergency preparedness in mind, I have decided to create this blog in order to discuss simple things that we can all do to be prepared for situations that may come our way. Someone once said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!" I agree with this whole heartedly and am excited to learn more myself about emergency preparedness through the making of this blog. Thanks for your support!
