Introduction

I feel like I've always been interested in emergency preparedness. From a young age, I remember doing earthquake drills in school, making emergency kits, and learning about Smokey the Bear. I've also gained a fascination for natural disasters (probably inspired by my dad, who will watch any "Twister," "Firestorm," or "Dante's Peak" movie that he can find).
I recently got a chuckle out of my roommate who, in glancing around at my rather disorderly bedroom, reminded me that I should at least have an escape path and a flashlight next to my bed so I don't kill myself if the power goes off! Ha ha.
With this love for emergency preparedness in mind, I have decided to create this blog in order to discuss simple things that we can all do to be prepared for situations that may come our way. Someone once said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!" I agree with this whole heartedly and am excited to learn more myself about emergency preparedness through the making of this blog. Thanks for your support!

As far as natural disasters go, the main ones that I found that Utah can have are snowstorms in the winter, fires in the summer, and occasional tornadoes (but usually these aren't very serious).
However, whether you're in Utah or anywhere else, there are always situations to be prepared for such as unemployment, power outages, floods, etc. These could happen anywhere.
The most important thing to focus on is having a supply of extra food and water, clothing, medical supplies, money, etc. Those types of things will help you to be more prepared for any situation! Thanks for your question!
